MISSIO REPORT FOR 2020 PARISH AGM
St Simon Stock parish is a significant contributor to Missio giving some £1,758 through its red box collections in 2019 a 15% increase on 2018. This is an exceptional effort and has only been bettered once.
The boxes are collected at masses every quarter during the year in January, April, July and October and returned the following week.
For those who are not aware of the work of Missio, its aim is to bring the hope of the Gospel where there is turmoil, poverty and uncertainty in the world, and where the Church is new, young or poor.
Your prayers and contributions through the Missio red boxes help to continue to sustain missionary priests and sisters around the world who are helping those who are afflicted, especially the poor, refugees and marginalised that may find welcome and comfort in our communities.
Last year 29 missionaries were unlawfully killed worldwide – 18 priests, one permanent deacon, two religious men, two nuns and six lay people. They lived and worked caring for people living in poverty, helping children and supporting development and faith projects. Such statistics will not hit our media in the UK. These missionaries must not be forgotten so please remember them and the work they do in your prayers.
Examples of how our contributions help our friends overseas can be found in the quarterly magazine Mission Today.

MISSIO REPORT FOR 2022 PARISH AGM
St Simon Stock parish is a significant contributor to Missio giving some £1,186 through its red box collections in 2021, this is despite only having two red box collections in the year because of the Covid pandemic. This is an exceptional effort and one for which the parish should be very proud.
The boxes are collected at masses every quarter during the year in January, April, July and October and returned the following week.
For those who are not aware of the work of Missio, its aim is to bring the hope of the Gospel where there is turmoil, poverty and uncertainty in the world, and where the Church is new, young or poor. Your donations and prayers keep health clinics and schools open, train tomorrow’s generation of Priests and Sisters, and create a vibrant Catholic Church for the future.
Do you know that in much of the developing world, the majority of public services, such as hospitals and schools, are run by the Catholic Church. Missio is the only Catholic charity which supports 40% of the Universal Church.
These missionaries must not be forgotten so please remember them and the work they do in your prayers.
