There were eight young people from our parish who received the sacrament of Confirmation last year. It was our turn to host, and we were very fortunate to have Monsignor Matthew Dickens as our chief Celebrant. It was a truly joyous occasion, supported brilliantly by our fabulous choir.
We have a couple of new catechists keen to join the programme this year, although everything is obviously on hold at the moment.
The Confirmation programme is open to those in year 9 or above. For those who received their First Holy Communion in our parish, we will write and invite them to join when they are in year 9. Others who have joined the parish since their First Holy Communion should contact the office for an application form.
We are not sure whether it will be possible to celebrate Confirmation this year. We usually start towards the end of May but, at the moment, that looks unlikely. If there are any young people who would like to join our next Confirmation programme, please let us know. You can download an application form from the parish website, or via this link Confirmation Application Form 2020
Confirmation Report 2022
We were unable to run our Confirmation programme for two years, but we are now back. For several years now, we have celebrated the Confirmation Mass in early November. However, given that we were not able to start our preparation until late in the year, Fr Pawel and I decided to make a few changes. We started in mid-November and have booked the Confirmation Mass for Sunday 29th May 2022 (7th Sunday of Easter) at 11:00. Canon Luke Smith will be joining us as the Principal Celebrant.
Our catechist team remains unchanged, with me, Les and Christine working together. We discussed the programme we are using and decided to extend the course, which has given us the opportunity to discuss some topics in more detail. We are also discussing some aspects of Catholic Social Teaching for the fist time this year.
The Confirmation programme is open to those in year 9 or above, and we have twelve Candidates this year. Please keep our Candidates in your prayers.
